Chinese shuttlers secure key wins on opening day of 2025 Indonesia Masters

JAKARTA, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- The 2025 Indonesia Masters badminton tournament opened on Tuesday at Istora Senayan Sports Stadium in Jakarta, with multiple Chinese shuttlers advancing to the next round.

In the men's doubles, Xie Haonan and Zeng Weihan defeated Indonesia's Sabar Karyaman Gutama and Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani in a thrilling three-set match, 15-21, 21-15, 21-16.

In the women's doubles, Li Yijing and Luo Xumin overpowered Fan Ka Yan and Yau Mau Ying from China's Hong Kong 21-12, 21-7, while Jia Yifan and Zhang Shuxian defeated compatriots Kang Shuliang and Wang Zimeng 21-17, 21-12.

In the mixed doubles, Li Hongyi and Bao Lijing routed Germany's Malik Bourakkadi and Leona Michalski 21-14, 21-9.

The 2025 Indonesia Masters runs until Sunday, with players competing for a total prize pool of 475,000 U.S. dollars. ■
