BERLIN, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Sebastian Vettel secured pole position for the Formula One German Grand Prix in Hockenheim, Germany, on Saturday, while Lewis Hamilton suffered a setback when his Mercedes broke down.
Vettel, who has an eight-point advantage to Hamilton, posted a track record 1 minute 11.212 seconds around the 4.574-kilometer circuit to pip Valtteri Bottas of Mercedes and Kimi Raikkonen in the other Ferrari. It is the 55th pole of his career.
Hamilton had to stop his car with hydraulic problems towards the end of first qualifying and will start 14th.
