OTTAWA, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Two policemen are among four confirmed dead in a shooting incident on Friday morning in Canada's New Brunswick province, according to CTV Television Network.
The shooting happened in the city of Fredericton at around 7 a.m. (1100 GMT).
"At this time, we can confirm multiple fatalities. The incident is ongoing. More information will be available when we can. Please continue to avoid the area of Brookside Drive between Main and Ring Road," Fredericton police tweeted.
Police have arrested one suspect, local media reported.
Local residents have been told to avoid the Brookside Drive area and stay inside their homes with the doors locked as the police are investigating "an ongoing incident."
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau offered his condolences to the victims' families.
"Awful news coming out of Fredericton. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this morning's shooting. We're following the situation closely," he tweeted.
